Feeling Korea (Day 4)

So fast, it's Day 4 of our trip.
Woke up the same time around 6am because of the brightness, took a bath, online and woke my roomie up.
Went for breakfast at our usual time, 8am.

~breakfast of the day (milk, fruit salad, potato egg, bread, mushroom soup)~

We then headed to our 2nd day of language class.
I was the earliest to reach the class but it was not open yet, so i took the picture from outside the classroom.

~old school~

As usual, our language class ended at 11am, headed back to our hostel, rested and had lunch.

~lunch~

We met up again at the carpark at 1.30pm.
Weather was hot as usual.

Today is making fan, and the venue is the same like yesterday which is Hanok Village.
Being greeted warmly by the people there, and they taught us the way to say Annyeonghaseyo in a proper manner.
Each of us were seated at a table and we have our own individual things.

 ~before designing the fan~

~paper flowers and dried leaves and branches~

They showed us how design the fan by just arranging the flowers and branches given.
Then, after arranging everything, we put a lil glue on every flower we had decorated.
After pasting all the flowers and leaves, we brought our fan to the front and they pasted a transparent plastic in the fan, and after a week, we have to wipe it using wet tissue.
All of us designed our fan according to our own creativity.

~my fan!~

~Group 2 rocks!!~

~a picture with our volunteers~

~us and our fans~

It was really a great experience for us on learning how to make and design the fan.
I enjoyed it alot.

Went back hostel after fan making, took a shower, went for dinner and we went out for a walk around the city.

~dinner~

We walked out of the uni around Old Gate, this time is another side of the Old Gate where you can find Lotte Store.

~streets in Old Gate~

~wefie~

We enjoyed walking around the city and we felt so safe.
Went into Lotte Store just to look around.

 ~variety of drinks~

 ~their coffee!! I like it so much~

Wished if they have all these in Malaysia.
Walked back to our uni around 830pm, took a bath, online and slept.

Feeling Korea (Day 3)

As usual, we had our breakfast around 8am in the cafeteria

~breakfast (apple puff, cereal with milk, steamed potatoes, fried egg)~

After that, we headed to our first Korean language class.
Waited for everyone at the cafe and we walked together as some of them can't remember the directions to the class.
Class started at 9am and ended at 11am.

~us before entering our respective classes~

~our Korean language book~

Only me, Shamim and Amalina were from Edu fac, the rest were SUKSIS students from UM.
Our teacher is Yun Eun Mi seon sang nim and she fully uses Korean language to interact with us.
I was still ok because I had some previous knowledge about Korean language before, but when she goes into some deepe stuffs, I felt so lost.

We learnt about vowels, the way to pronounced it and the ways to write.
At this part especially the writing part, I felt really lost. LOL
Tho it was just a basic class, but it takes time for us to learn.

~us in the 2nd class~

Headed back to hostel after class and we had our lunch around 12 noon.
The next activity was at 1.30pm.

~lunch~

Pottery making day.
Headed to Hanok Village by bus with our volunteers.
Korean people are really very punctual, therefore, I try to get my UM kids to be on time for every single activities and classes.

~my group's volunteer (Jiwon, Ngoc, Zheng Ya)~

Reached Hanok Village 10 minutes later.

~the pottery shop~

The potteries were all made by the owner of the shop.
So amazing!

~clays and the things we need to use~

The clay was very cold but it didn't smell that bad.
I was so curious and I can't wait to make my pottery.

 ~us before starting the pottery~

A couple (husband and wife) taught us how to make the pottery.
He first explained about the clay we used and what it was made from, and he demonstrated for us the procedures for the making of pottery.
After that, it was time for us to make our own pottery.
Then, both the husband or wife will help us out by making our pottery look even better and painting it.

 ~me and my pottery~

After pottery making, we had free time.
Three of us (Grace Teng, Jiexi and Jinq Wen) wanted to walk around Hanok Village, therefore, we did not follow the bus back.

~walking in Hanok village~

Most of the buildings there looked like traditional buildings.
There were so many people walking in Hanok village.
From what I've observed, everyday, their streets are very lively as there are always people walking around.

~people wearing their traditional clothes~

Despite the hot weather, many people wearing their Hanbok and walking around the village.
They have many places to rent the Hanbok along Hanok Village.

~lotsa food shops too~

~souvenirs~

After walking in Hanok Village for some time, we took a taxi back to CBNU.
We told the taxi driver Chonbuk tae-hak-kyo =D
It was kinda hard to communicate but we tried our best with the knowledge that we have.

 ~back to CBNU~

Took a bath, had our dinner and lepak at our hostel downstairs for free wifi.

~dinner~

The weather at night is quite chilly.
Really loving the weather at night, but the afternoon's weather is really hot.
But whenever i sweat, I don't feel sticky as it dries up immediately.

~night view of our Chambit (hostel)~

There's a convenience store, a cafe where they sold good coffee, a western food place, ramen place and a stationary shop.
I love their convenience store coz it has so many things and my banana milk! So yummy.
We hangout outside the cafe for the free wifi...hehe

Feeling Korea (Day 2)

Rise and shine!
Their 5am is already bright. I thought i overslept but it was actually only 5am (4am Malaysian time). Knowing me, when I'm awake, I couldn't sleep back.
Took a bath, online and woke my rommie up for breakfast.
We went down to the cafeteria to have our first breakfast in Korea.

~few of us with our hearty meal~

After that, we gathered in front of the cafe near our hostel for our campus tour in the morning.

~Group 2~

~us from UM with some International students~

This is the view from my hostel room at 6am, so bright!

This is the Chambit which is known as hostel.
So nice and clean.
 Campus Tour began!

So they brought us around the campus (the campus was really HUGE!)

~pathway~

After that, they brought us to their uni's museum. Ok, everything in there is so nice and huge.LOL

~walking to the museum~

After that, they brought us to a park, which is the National Park.
Guess what, their national park is in the uni itself! Whoaa.....

~the park~

~lotsa lotus behind~

 ~enjoying the scenery while walking~

After that, we headed back to our room and met up again around 1.30pm.
So i went back to room for a rest, took lunch and met them at the car park.

~us at the car park~

And spot my leader there, Jiwon.
He was the one who messaged all of us before we came here.

Afternoon was the opening ceremony event for all of us. So we walked to the venue where it was held, which is in Law School.
Reached there around 1.45pm and the ceremony started at 2pm.
We had 2 performances and speeches from few people as well as video viewing about this Feeling Korea programme.

 ~with the Chancellor of CBNU~

He is so friendly!
I think back in Malaysia, I can't even go near and have a picture with the Chancellor of my uni.

~all of us for this Feeling Korea programme~

UM has the most students (64students) and the rest were from China, Taiwan and Vietnam.

~this is Hyun Ho (the volunteer for Group 1)~

~with the Vice Chancellor of the Uni~

Gosh, the people there are very smiley and friendly!

~ selfie with my leader, Jiwon~

The opening ceremony ended around 330pm, the leaders and volunteers than brought us to look around the place for our language classes.
The language class will be held in the Engineering building.
As i walked, i was observing all the road, I need to remember the way to get to the class. HAHA
After that, we got back to our room (ahhh, aircond!!). Rested and had our dinner around 530pm.
We then decided to explore outside of the uni.
Well, everything is so convenient. The uni has few gates and most of it connects to a place.
The place that we went today was Old Gate, 15 minutes walk from hostel.

~Old Gate~

~the streets in Old Gate~

So many cafes, food, convenience stores and facial products shop.
So happening as there were many people.
We took our time to walk around and entered every single facial product shop that we saw, trust me (every single one of it).
We walked back around 830pm, took our bath and slept.

Feeling Korea (Day 1)

Yay, Korea!! Deep in my heart, I was excited for it although I've gone through many ups and downs throughout the procedure for this summer programme.

My second time to overseas, but this time with a group of people and without parents.
Arrived KLIA2 around 5am in the morning, lost my way to MCD (LOL, my first time to KLIA2, so yea), waited for everyone else to arrive.

Being a group leader for an international trip is not an easy task. I panicked when some came late because the departure hall was really far. Made sure everyone checked-in then I can walk with peace.

So, there goes my journey..... we checked-in, walked to the departure hall (in between you have some process and all) and finally we reached Gate 10. Sat there and waited till 740am since our flight is 8am. There were loads of people going to Korea. And wow! our AirAsiaX plane is huge.

~wefie with all the 25 people before we enter the plane~

Last minute changes, we need to move to Gate 8 because they were having some technical problems at Gate 10. We started our journey around 820am and we reached Incheon airport around 330pm (which is 230pm Malaysian time)

 ~we've reached KOREA!!~

Waited to collect our luggage's and there were 2 volunteers waiting for us. Bought a SIM card which could last me for 2 weeks.
Everything is in Korean language (their signs, communication and everything else). I've regretted not learning much last time coz I gave up so easily.LOL
So, we had another 3 more hours by bus to CBNU (Chonbuk National University) which is in Jeonju.

~otw to Jeonju~

We reached CBNU around 8pm. What a long journey (7 hours of flight and 3 hours of bus ride)

 ~us in CBNU~

So there were few volunteers there waiting for us, gave us our name tags, room access card and briefed us with some important things. Weather was quite chilly!

~our room~

And yea, this was my room for 2 weeks. Nice right?
It's their hostel for students, which is way far nicer than we had back in UM.hehe
Packed, took a bath, slept.

Feeling Korea has begun!

Yeap, we had a meet up again, err after some time.LOL
Planned a meetup for peeps who are still around KL/PJ (it started with 5 people and then it ended up with 15 people) HAHA

Jack was the one who jio-ed all of us, and we planned a birthday surprise for him.
Quite a hectic week, but everything managed to be done on time.

~Surprise, Jack!!~

And I do miss my havoc peeps/working peeps.
Jio-ed them for homecooked dinner the next day after the pizza surprise.haha

~my lovelies~

Nice catching up with them after a long time.
Gonna miss em for 2 weeks as I'll be away for some exchange programme.

 ~O-Matcha Tsujiri~

And finally went to Tsujiri to try their green tea stuffs.
Not bad, haha to me, everything also nice.

Throwback

 Throwback~~~
~Hello Kitchen at S17~

The best part was this place is it is owned by Chef Shearson Lian! and his partner.
He's the chef from 5 Rencah 5 Rasa that I used to follow.

~tour to Petrosains~

Yeap, went to Petrosains with these 2 Science geeks.
And we were there for 7 long hours. HAHA
Never in my life I spent so long in Petrosains.

~Finding Dory~

Watched Finding Dory and it was good!
Managed to kidnap Kit Zai before he goes back and rot.
So hard to persuade him to stay coz he keeps saying he wants to go back.
